SERVING TO OR SERVING YOURSELF
There is desire and there is will, and although they seem similar, their operating dynamics and results differ greatly.
The difference between desire and will lies in the fact that, through the dynamics of desire, our intention is to use reality in search of satisfaction, while through the dynamics of will, our intention is to serve the world in which we find ourselves in some way, and we do this, in general, through relationships.
Therefore, we can, and do, use people or serve them.
One dynamic is self-centered and the other transfers the center of consciousness beyond oneself, in search of belonging in larger, transcendent spheres.
Thus we all walk between heaven and earth, oscillating between selfish activities through which we use reality, nutrients, resources and relationships to satisfy our desires, and at the same time seeking something greater to be useful and provide service by making use of our potential.
There is no good or evil involved in these dynamics, one is centripetal, the other centrifugal, one takes away and the other adds.
