Quiroga - 44

THE LABYRINTH

Our humanity, personally and collectively, is an excellent repeater of past mistakes that it knows it has committed, but even so it repeats them, because selfishness makes us mentally deficient, since it convinces us that, no, this time it will be different, because I bear the light , I saw the way, I will solve what no one has ever solved.

And so we go, each of our SELFs, repeating the same old mistakes.

This is the case of the bellicose reasoning of our humanity, which remains high despite the proven science that in wars there are no winners, there are only losers, but that, as history is written by those who are more successful in eclipsing the other part, considered defeated, a narrative is created that hides for current and future generations the cursed heritage that is being imported to the countries and peoples that consider themselves the victors.

All of this is as old as our cave-dwelling ancestors, but antiquity does not give it dignity, nor does it transform militarism into a tradition that must be continued, it was worthy and necessary when civilization was organized into castes, but that ceased to be a long time ago. Nowadays, warlike reasoning is not a guaranteed respect, it continues to have consumer appeal, but pornography is also widely consumed and does not deserve dignity.

To get out of this infamous labyrinth of social distortions and to update the hierarchy of values in which a civilization needs to structure itself, to deserve the name of civilization, one must raise one's sights, yearn for the infinite, detach oneself from the idyll with suffering, dare to to aspire to the noblest and highest things.
