Expel Your Toxins with Sauna

10 Sauna Benefits That Will Blow Your Mind

Sauna therapy (including infrared) is an ancient method of detoxifying and healing the body, mind, and spirit.
When it comes to sauna benefits, they stem from a sauna’s ability to help your body detox. Yep, a relaxing sauna can help you remove more toxins than almost any other mode of detoxification!
Our bodies are built to detox to a certain extent on their own. However, because we are exposed to so many more toxins today than ever before in human history, it’s important for us to practice simple detox measures regularly.
I love saunas because they are super safe and make me feel amazing. They also activate our greatest detox organ… OUR SKIN!

Saunas are nothing new

Throughout history, humans have used sauna therapy as a safe and powerful means of detoxification. Examples include Native American sweat lodges and Finnish wood-fired saunas, where saunas have been in use for over 2,000 years.

10 Sauna Benefits (that will blow your mind!)

Sauna health benefits are amazing. Here’s are ten of the biggies.

Sauna Benefits #1 –  Extreme stress reduction

Saunas are huge stress fighters. Thanks to sugar, coffee, lack of sleep, stressed adrenals, and toxic chemical exposure, many of us are stuck in the sympathetic or “fight or flight” state. Saunas encourage our bodies to go into the parasympathetic state, which allows us to de-stress, digest, rest, and heal.

Sauna Benefits #2 – Balance hormones

Stress reduction helps to lower stress hormones (cortisol). When cortisol is kept in balance, thyroid, insulin, DHEA, testosterone, and estrogen are also kept in balance. In fact, progesterone levels can increase if we keep our cortisol in healthy range. Saunas help the adrenals secrete aldosterone, which helps keep electrolytes in balance too.

Sauna Benefits #3 – Get superpowers!

Saunas can make it seem like you’ve acquired super healing strength. A number of studies show that near infrared saunas can significantly improve tissue and wound healing, including retinal injury!
One study found that mice who were blinded by chemicals had their eyesight damage completely reversed because of NIR therapy. Finnish and German studies show that saunas can reduce the incidence of cold and flu by about 30%.

Sauna Benefits #4 – Fountain of youth

Near infrared saunas can help reduce signs of aging and help your skin be healthier and younger looking. The red light stimulates collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin help plump and firm the skin which can also help alleviate stretch marks and cellulite.
Deep sweating can also help improve skin cell turnover. It can remove bacteria from the skin, which helps with acne and improves skin health. Additionally, NIR saunas are shown to reduce inflammation, which can alleviate skin issues such as psoriasis and eczema.

Sauna Benefits #5 – Lose weight effortlessly

Saunas can help with weight loss. Saunas can increase heart rate while lowering blood pressure and increasing oxygenation and metabolic rate. These physiological affects are incredibly similar to cardio exercise!
A study involving a group of women riding stationary bicycles demonstrated a 444% increase in weight loss for the group exposed to near infrared light when compared to the exercise only group. Far infrared radiant heat can burn more than 600 calories in a 30 minute session! (That’s my kind of exercise 😉 )
Near infrared saunas can also help with weight loss by stimulating human growth hormone which helps keep us young and fit.

Sauna Benefits #6 – Improve circulation and oxygenation

When you sit in a hot sauna, your body temperature begins to rise. This causes your blood vessels to dilate, which increases blood flow and overall circulation. Blood brings nutrients and oxygen to all body tissues and help them heal. Studies show that infrared therapy recharges mitochondria, so it’s reaching us at a cellular level and is a great practice for increasing energy and stamina.

Sauna Benefits #7 – Avoid heart disease

We already know that saunas reduce blood pressure, increase oxygenation and circulation, all of which support heart health. Studies show saunas are less likely than exercise itself to cause cardiac episodes in men who have underlying heart conditions. However, saunas are just as effective at increasing cardiac output (exercising the heart) as exercise, making them a great alternative for those with some heart conditions that make exercise potentially dangerous.

Sauna Benefits #8 – Helps with medical conditions

Saunas have been shown to be useful in alleviating symptoms associated with depression, autoimmune disease, and chronic pain and fatigue. It helps with chronic tension headaches. Sauna therapy reduced pain and fatigue associated with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
Sauna therapy has even been used to support various cancer treatments. It is known that high temperatures can kill cancer cells, usually without hurting normal cells and body tissue.
Far infrared therapy inhibited the growth of solid tumor cellsOne study showed that the use of hyperthermia alone resulted in complete overall response rates of 13%. Using hyperthermia, in addition to other treatment modalities, has shown significant improvement in tumors of the head, neck, breast, brain, bladder, cervix, rectum, lung, esophagus, vulva and vagina, and also for melanoma.

Sauna Benefits #9 – Removes heavy metals & chemicals

Many toxins seem to prefer to dump into sweat versus blood or urine. Arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury have been shown in studies to be excreted through the skin as well or better than they are excreted in urine.
Furthermore, a Canadian study found that the concentration of phytates (chemicals in toys, fragrances, cosmetics, etc) was twice as high in sweat than in urine or blood.
Another study found BPA in 80% of the subjects’ sweat, while finding no detectable levels in their blood or urine. This seems to point to sweat being the best method for excreting the toxin.

Sauna Benefits #10 – Protect Your Brain

A recent study conducted by researchers in Finland — a country where it’s not unusual for a home have a sauna — found that men who used a sauna four to seven times a week for an average length of 15 minutes had a 66 percent lower risk of developing dementia, and 65 percent lower risk of Alzheimer’s, compared to men who used the sauna only once a week. (Source.) WOWZERS!

Sauna Benefits BONUS – Live to 100

And finally, one huge, landmark study found that the more men used their sauna, the lower the risk for sudden cardiac arrest, fatal cardiovascular disease, fatal coronary heart disease, and ALL-CAUSE MORTALITY. Basically, the more you sauna, the longer you’re gonna live.

“Can’t I just work out hard and reap all the benefits of sweating?”

While exercise is certainly good for you, it has different benefits than sauna sweating. During aerobic exercise, your heart rate is increased but the blood flow to vital organs is lowered. A sauna increases heart rate and blood flow to vital organs, allowing for the excretion of toxins from those organs.

Impressive, isn’t it?

We were truly amazed as we began digging into sauna benefits! Such a great tool for healthy living.
Coming up: an article about the different types of saunas, which is best, plus a review of the sauna we are using.

How about you?

Do you sauna? Which sauna benefits surprised you most?

  • What does your provider think?
  • I will be traveling to Lithuania, I will look forward to experience old traditions.
  • I am curious about this, too!
  • There are still plenty of benefits to the traditional saunas! So yes, use it. 🙂 As for the chlorine, I’m not a dermatological expert, but I’d think that the body would sweat out the chlorine once you got in there, and then you could shower afterward.
  • In many Finnish saunas they require nakedness in order to avoid chlorine soaked bathing suits in the sauna. I have heard that the hot fumes can be toxic, so yes, please do shower off first!
  • That makes good sense to me. Do what Rick says! ?
  • I chose a near infrared sauna for a few reasons.
    1. Far infrared generally emit harmful electromagnetic waves (whereas near infrared saunas produce almost no EMF)
    2. Light from far infrared saunas doesn’t penetrate the body as well
    3. Far infrared saunas typically use more electricity too
We have been using and loving this little portable sauna from SaunaSpace. Will do a full video review of it in a week or two. ?
  • Tamara, using the sauna is NOT safe while you are pregnant! Be careful!
  • Genevieve, do you know anything about the benefits/ drawbacks of using the sauna while TTC? I can’t find much online.
    Thanks,
    Carol
  • I would hold off. The first several weeks of a pregnancy are the most fragile and saunas do induce detox. Baby dust to you!!!

  • I’m using sauna for about a month, but now I felt the n my breast lump , only that part, I have breast cancer, do u think it’s part of the healing process, I’m not using today, until it get healed the pain.
  • The only danger of the sauna is staying in too long or going between immediate heat and cold but thats only if you have a blood pressure problem. Still I will say that they are great in winter in Canada if you can not go to a warm climate zone. They recommend going inside and getting warm then taking the sauna then cooling off indoors then heading out again or transitioning a temperate shower between pool and sauna, although if you have no severe blood pressure problems that is not even a worry so only those people need consider that. If you stay in too long (half an hour) without taking breaks its also not a good idea although spending 5 minutes in and then taking a break outside then going in again later is all right. One can lose lots of water sweating in one although thats only from staying in too long or using them in the hot summer season or both. Otherwise they are no harm unless pregnant women they may be not advisable although thats the only more absolute situation
Overall, saunas are better for you than hot tubs by quite a degree. In most cases whether one thing is healthier or not is somewhat debatable (foods, drinks) although saunas are not typically as unhygenic because hot tubs are at a temperature where bacteria can still flourish as well as germs from other peoples bodies. Hot tubs can soothe muscles so they have some good purposes although overall they are less clean and contain a larger amount of chemicals than the saunas
  • Have been neglecting my aim – to sauna regularly. After reading your excellent, informative, pages – I’m definitely heading to a sauna tomorrow – and regularly from then on
    Regards
    Don T
  • Great article! There are numerous benefits of Saunas on health and overall wellbeing. They have been great in curing diseases such as ear infections too.
  • Great article but I spotted a blooper.
The article says, “Furthermore, a Canadian study found that the concentration of phytates”…
    WHOOPS!
Phytates are fine – what the research study says is about the “Human elimination of phthalate compounds: blood, urine, and sweat (BUS) study”
BIG difference – phthalates are dangerous chemicals and probably hormone disruptors, Phytates are fabulously useful natural food chemicals – more info on that given by Dr Greger at his site https://nutritionfacts.org/video/phytates-for-rehabilitating-cancer-cells/
  • I will consider the outdoor model from Costco. Go from Jacuzzi to sauna. No technical data, wattage, temperature.
  • Would you ever use a sauna with a toddler? I’ve had two naturopaths recommend it for my 16 mo who has a really hard time detoxing. They both recommended to take her in for just 2 mins on lower temp. We just bought our own…
  • I love my sauna ! I was devastated after diagnosed and treated for breast cancer that they would not recommend saunas as my lymph system was compromised. I waited 2 long years and slowly added them in and going on 2nd year w no problems! LOVE this article?
  • Hello, thank you for this inspirative post.
I agree with you. Sauna is very good for the health, but do not forget there are important rules to respect.
A sauna can be harmful if people ignore some simple rules like: avoid alcohol, don’t go to sauna if you’re ill, drink water, etc.
I like sauna very much, and after many years visiting the sauna and having own sauna at home, now I write about sauna and I’m trying to share my passion with other people.
    Best regards,
    Michaela

  • I did not know about the benefits of the sauna until I read this post. So I think I will have sauna more often. Thanks for sharing!
  • Do all these benefits occur from traditional saunaa as well, any links for this? Our gym doesnt have infrared.
  • Thanks for nice article. Please, come to Lithuania Pirtis (sauna), we have very old traditions and we’ll help everyone to enjoy benefits of Pirtis 🙂
  • I just tried the isauna love it you are wonderful person for you advice!
  • What about if you have saline implants? I’ve heard the infrared sauna is not good with them? What do you think ? ❤️️
  • What a list! Is there anything a sauna can’t do? I know you mentioned your portable sauna… wondering if you came across any difference in benefits between the portable infrared style, and more traditional steam saunas?
  • what about using sauna after giving birth? is it safe if I breastfeed?
    thank you
  • It should be fine. Consider starting with just a few minutes at a time.
  • Was about to sell mine, but I suppose I need to tough it out, I have severe RA the fatigue is killing me, I just hate the heat. Your medal was encouraging. Thx
  • Sir, How do we prepare Sauna therapy for use and detoxification. Thanks.
  • Hi! Do you consider bikram yoga as some sort of sauna? The room is usually heated up to 100 degrees and you’re doing yoga in this room for 90 minutes sweating like hell. Or by sauna you only talking about the regular relaxing spa. I go to sauna in my gym, it’s usually not hop at all… Very little sweat, kind of pointless. I grew up in Russia, we go to up to 200 degree sauna. You can’t even stay there longer than 5 min lol
  • Hi Genevieve — thanks so much for this info! I have access to a regular (wood) sauna at my gym. It seems like the best health benefits are from the near infrared saunas, but is it still beneficial to use the old fashioned kind? Also, if I use it after I swim, should I shower off the chlorine first?
  • Just watched the video and am excited about the benefits. Can you talk about the cost to operate? I imagine your electric bill is taking a pretty big hit. Thanks
  • Yes wondering which types of sauna’s you recommend?
  • It seems there are benefits to both near and far infrared saunas. Do you recommend a particular type of both? I’ve been meaning to check out the saunas at http://www.therasage.com but haven’t yet. What brand do you recommend? Can’t wait to read more on saunas!
  • I’m looking at a portable one until we move. Any suggestions?
  • Can you recommend a sauna? Which do you have!?
    Thank you,
    Amanda
  • We’ve had a brand new sauna in our home since we’ve moved in almost 5 years ago. I had no idea there were so many health benefits! I think we’ll give it a try. Is it safe to use when your pregnant (26 wks)?
  • Sorry, no sauna-ing when you are pregnant. ?

Antarctica and the Secret Space Programs

Exposing Antarctica: Secret Space Program, Underground Bases, Reptilians, Nordics

(Julie Alexander) In Dr Michael Salla’s latest book “Antarctica’s Hidden History” we learn about the Thule Society, the German Secret Space Programme, the Reptilians, the Nordics and so much more. A brief summary of his book is below.
Related Alien and Ancient City Discovered Underneath Antarctica — Dr. Michael Salla Interview

by Julie Alexander, July 23rd, 2018
    German Secret Space Programmes

Before World War 2, Adolf Hitler was supported by the German Workers Party (who later became the NAZI party). The German Workers Party was soon to be supported by the Thule Society, once they realised what an asset Adolf Hitler was.

The Thule Society believed in a mysterious force called Vril, a force that could be harnessed by individuals; their aim was to gain power using this force.

With the help of a psychic called Maria Orsic who telepathically communicated with Inner Earthhumans they obtained information and plans to build flying saucers.

The Thule society started to produce flying saucers

Pictures collage or various models of real Nazi Vril flying saucers

During the 2nd world war when the Germans realised that they were losing, the Thule Society transferred all their manpower, knowledge and technology to the Antarctic.

The Thule society split into two separate groups. The Thule Society was working with reptilians from Earth and Maria Orsic was working with Nordics from inner earth.

Antarctica is about the same size as the USA and Mexico combined. It has 3 large mountain ranges and approximately 138 volcanoes. So there was plenty of room for both groups to expand.

The Thule society group wanted power and when they moved to the Antarctic they took many slaves along with them.

Both groups carried on with their work in Antarctica, one with the help of the reptilians and the other with the help of the Nordics.

    USA Intervenes

The USA was aware of the Germans in Antarctica and tried to come to an agreement with them.

In 1946 Rear Admiral Richard Byrd went down to the Antarctic to destroy the German bases.

This was called Operation High Jump, 4,700 Military, 6 Helicopters, 6 Martin PBM flying Boats, 2 Seaplanes, 15 other Aircraft, 13 Navy Supply Ships and 1 Aircraft Carrier accompanied Rear Admiral Byrd.

Operation High Jump’s cover story was said to be one of scientific research in the area. Really it was a Military Force against a secret enemy.

The mission was supposed to last 6 months, it only lasted 8 weeks. The German Secret Space Programmes technology was far too advanced for Admiral Byrd and his military to overcome. He was defeated.

Many of the UFO’s originally seen flying around at this time were the German Secret Space Programme UFO’s

In 1952 UFO’s appeared over the White House. At the time they were thought to be Aliens from another planet but really it was the Germans showing off their hardware.

In February 1954 Eisenhower had a secret meeting at Edwards Base with Maria Orsic and the human looking Nordics; they attempted to dissuade Eisenhower to continue with nuclear weapons and warned about the Germans who worked with the Reptilians.

Maria Orsic’s group wanted peace and the new technology to benefit all of mankind. Ultimately Maria wanted humanity to be part of the galactic community. Eisenhower rejected their offer.

In February 1955 Eisenhower had another secret meeting this time with the German and Reptilian group at Holloman Air Force Base. It is believed that an agreement was reached with this group.

Corey Goode has said that after the treaty was signed a US Secret Space Programme began. The US SSP and the German Secret Space Programme tried to infiltrate each other’s groups. The German SSP eventually won. They soon took over US financial systems, the military industrial complex and the US government.

It was agreed that worldwide corporations would produce equipment for the German Secret Space Programme. This was possible because many US and German industrialists belonged to a secret group who had no national affiliations.

This group is known today as the elite, the cabal or the illuminati.

    German Secret Space Programme Expansion

There are now many cities under the ice of Antarctica in huge caverns. The German Secret Space Programme has expanded beyond comprehension.

Artistic interpretation of a secret military base under the ice of Antarctica

Many countries around the world have now worked with the German SSP in Antarctica along with the US and the European nations. Many more large corporations from around the world have also collaborated with the Antarctic Germans.

Eventually the German SSP built bases on the Moon and Mars and they still used human slaves to do their work for them. William Tompkins says the slave trade is big business and it is still happening today.

The German SSP became known as The Dark Fleet and the USA Navy SSP became known as Solar Warden.

Corey Goode says the human slave trade is now run by the Interplanetary Corporate Conglomerate which was started by the elites who secretly control the earth’s governments.

The elites believed many humans were being abducted anyway so they decided to make a profit from this activity. They now sell humans to extra-terrestrials as slaves.

    Antarctica Now

The Dark Fleet is still operational in the Antarctic and they were the first to become aware of its hidden secrets.

In recent years the volcanoes have caused the ice to melt revealing alien spaceships and many artefacts. Inside these alien space ships they have found the bodies of pre-Adamites in stasis chambers.

Pre-Adamites have elongated skulls and strange shaped bodies due to the different gravitational pull on their home planet as opposed to the earths.

They are said to have arrived on earth 55,000 years ago. It is said they arrived from a planet in our solar system, generally assumed to be Mars. It is this group that is believed to have created human alien hybrids by interbreeding with the humans at that time.

They took over the world with their advanced technology.

The illuminati, elite, cabal or powers that shouldn’t be claim to be descended from the pre Adamites and that is why they feel they should rule over the world and we should all be their slaves.

It is not sure how the pre Adamites came to be frozen in the Antarctic, one theory is that the Antarctic was once in a different position and the poles shifted suddenly causing the area to freeze instantly. Some of the space ships have crash landed in the area causing another puzzle.

Corey Goode has visited Antarctica and seen the large caverns and huge cities. He has seen the artefacts and the huge space ships. This information as usual is being kept secret from the general public by the governments of the world.

There is obviously far more going on around us on this earth than we could ever have realised. More and more information leaks out every day.

Emery Smith has stated that the earth will reveal the answers to us all eventually and in the case of Antarctica once the ice melts, he will certainly be right.

Let’s hope we don’t have to wait that long!

Your Mouth is Killing You - 2

    Gifts from Your Dentist
Dentists have accomplished many great things in this country in terms of promoting oral health, but on three key issues, they stand on the wrong side of history and health:
    1. Fluoride
     2. Mercury fillings
    3. Root canals
    Fluoride
In Chapter 11, Dying of Thirst, I discussed in some detail the evidence that fluoride is a dangerous toxic substance that has no business being added to our drinking water. But it is worth repeating here that new research has revealed that fluoride in drinking water makes the aluminum that we ingest more bioavailable. In the presence of fluoride, more aluminum crosses the blood-brain barrier and is deposited in the brain. As was reported in Brain Research, Vol.7 84:98, the
bottom line is that the combination of aluminum and fluoride causes the same pathological changes in brain tissue that are found in Alzheimer's patients.

    Mercury fillings
The American Dental Association has resolutely maintained for years that "when mercury is
combined with the metals used in dental amalgam, it's toxic properties are made harmless." If this were true, it would be miraculously fortuitous. Amalgam, which consists of mercury, silver, tin, copper, and a trace amount of zinc, has been used by dentists for well over several hundred years—as far back, actually, as the 7th century in China. Here in the United States, mercury-based fillings made their appearance in the early 1800s. From the beginning, there were a number of dentists who were concerned by the presence of
mercury, since by that time it was fairly well known that mercury was poisonous. In fact, these concerns were so strong, that by the mid-1940s, several dental societies, including the American Society of Dental Surgeons, had joined together to stop the use of amalgam fillings. But amalgam was just too easy to work with, and whatever ill effects people experienced were too far down the road to matter, and so, in 1859, the American Dental Association was founded—primarily to promote the use of mercury amalgam as a safe and desirable tooth filling material. There were no tests done. No studies. Nothing. Amalgam was promoted because it was easy to work with. The reason the mercury was used in it was because mercury serves to "dissolve" the other metals and make an homogenous whole. It would be miraculous indeed if you could use one of the most toxic substances known to man with no ill effect. How was it defended? Well, the early position was that the mercury reacts with the other metals to form "a biologically inactive substance" so that none of it ever makes its way into your body. That too would have been miraculous indeed if that were true—but, of course, it is not. Numerous studies conducted in the 1970s and 80s have proven conclusively that the mercury from fillings (primarily from mercury vapor created when we chew) makes its way into the body, ending up in our lungs, heart, stomach, kidneys
, endocrine glands, gastrointestinal tract, jaw tissue, and our brains. Once it became irrefutable that mercury from the fillings was ending up in our bodies, it then
became mandatory that the ADA find a new defense. Again, not based on study, but rather on convenience, it became the position of the ADA that: Well yes, maybe some mercury does make its way into the body, but at levels that are so low it has no effect on our health. And once again, it would be miraculous indeed if that were true. Unfortunately, it is not. Like so many other toxic substances, the real problem with mercury is that it is a cumulative poison. The body holds onto a significant percentage of the mercury that enters it.
Mercury is one of the most toxic metals known—more toxic even than lead. And while there is no conclusive evidence that the mercury from fillings causes any particular health problems, there are, on the other hand, a number of studies that "imply" such a relationship. First of all, there is strong evidence that mercury lowers T-Cell counts. This, alone, implicates amalgam fillings in cancer, autoimmune diseases, allergies, candida overgrowth, and multiple sclerosis. It has also been shown that mercury interferes with the ability of the blood to carry oxygen—actually cutting its oxygen carrying capabilities by half. This would account for many instances of chronic fatigue. Mercury also has an affinity for our brains and is implicated in brain tumors and dementia. And, finally, mercury has an affinity for fetal tissue—reaching higher levels in the fetus than in the mother herself—which accounts for mercury's implication in birth defects. What about other sources of mercury entering the body? Well, seafood is of course a source. And some of the foods we eat are too. But, when all is said and done, the amount of mercury entering our bodies from amalgam fillings represents anywhere from 50-90% of the total amount. So why in the world does the ADA continue to support the use of amalgam fillings? One simple answer is: if you're in for an inch, you're in for a mile. What would the legal ramifications be if the ADA suddenly announced that they, and all the dentists connected with them, had been wrong for well over 100 years and had been slowly poisoning all Americans? Can you spell tobacco?

Your Mouth is Killing You - 1

    Aluminum Cookware

It has been known for some 20 years that aluminum, once it enters our bodies, has the tendency to accumulate in our brains, where it kills off neurons—leading to memory loss. And thanks to the significant amounts of aluminum found in food emulsifiers, antiperspirant deodorants, hair sprays, baking powder, many toothpastes, much of our drinking water, and most of our cook-ware, we are exposed to quite a lot of aluminum over the course of our lives. There has been
much speculation, therefore, that aluminum may be one of the prime factors in the onset of Alzheimer's disease. The connection between aluminum and Alzheimer's disease became even stronger, when in 1995, Neurotoxicology
reported that the widespread use of aluminum salts to purify water could account for the large numbers of people suffering from Alzheimer's. And now, the final piece of the puzzle may have just fallen into place: the connection between
    aluminum and fluoride.
