JUST THE JOY
Even though it's more common to turn to the spirit world when we kiss the tarp than when our heart feels safe and comfortable, it's still worth it.
It's when we lose the dominion we've become accustomed to within the reach of our ignorance that we look for a higher instance, a greater power to which we cling, because the pain that consumes our hearts betrays our vulnerability.
And it's not that, one way or another, we find the comfort we seek in this way, but there comes a time when it's no longer enough for us to use the relationship with the spiritual world as the pharmacy where we look for medicines for our pains, and we begin to aspire to share in the glory of being ourselves, too, the focus that radiates comfort and security to all the people with whom we relate, and that is something that only joy can achieve, only joy can connect us to the spiritual world and participate of his glory, not only receiving his graces, but also distributing them through us.
Joy is the quintessence of spirituality, lacking it, we are left with only the current consensus on spirituality, which is the mistaken certainty that we arrive at it by practicing severe austerities, hardening our hearts with moral precepts that are impossible to practice, unless we sacrifice inner ardor or renouncing all joy.
Whoever invented that suffering would be the way to reach the kingdom of heaven, please disinvent this nonsense, because only joy is capable of leading us safely to the Divine.
